Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
The Day’s theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”

The churches oppose war. We believe that war is not the path to peace. ‘Just war theory’ is to say that war should only ever be used in the face of actual aggression, and to the minimal extent necessary to stop that aggression. From a Christian perspective, war is never the way to peace. That is why the churches supported the setting up of the United Nations.
